Microsoft requested KPMG to conduct a software license compliance audit against a county council in west England. The audit includes both the council’s own IT infrastructure, as well as the local schools shared ICT environment managed by the council.

The council had been previously audited by a different software publisher and was fully aware of the potential risks and has engaged FisherITS to support the defence activities immediately after learning the potential audit request from its Microsoft Account Manager.

Through consolidating the council’s SQL estate, cleansing legacy installations and user accounts and challenging factually inaccurate findings contained in KPMG, we have successfully reduced the licence purchase requirements to an immaterial level for the council.
